Ball opening
As is tradition, young ladies and gentlemen open the ball every season. We are delighted to welcome young people wanting to take part in this prestigious segment of the program.
Dancing a Viennese Waltz in a stunning festive hall is a beautiful experience, especially if the dancers are able to dance well. The Association of Austrians in the Czech Republic has prepared the following for all young couples who decide to take part in the ball opening:
- Ms. Petra Šimková and her colleagues, great dance teachers
- Dance Course I (a course in classical dance) – during this course, you will not only learn Viennese waltz but also other classical dances usually performed at balls. The course will be held at the Austrian School and at the German School, both of which are located in Prague. The course at the Austrian School (OEGP) will commence on Monday, September 30, 2024. The course at the German School (DSP) will commence on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Both course options will run weekly till the beginning of December (except for school holidays).
- Dance Course II – during this course you will learn quadrille and practice the ball opening performance. Five lessons of the Dance Course II take place at Zpevacky spolek Hlahol v Praze (Masarykovo nábřeží 248/16, Praha 1) on December 10 and 17, 2024 and then January 8, 14 and 15, 2025. Two general rehearsals follow on January 23 and 24, 2025, both of which take place at the Zofin Palace.
- White tailored evening dresses for ladies and tuxedos for gentlemen will be available to rent or purchase at a very good price.
Those couples able to perform the Viennese Waltz perfectly do not need to participate in Dance Course I. If they decide not to attend this course, they must attend the first lesson and briefly show their skills. Those couples who cannot yet perform it perfectly and those who are beginners will be cordially invited to join Dance Course I.
All interested ladies and gentlemen, please contact the Ball office as soon as possible.
We are looking forward to meeting you.
